Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Chief Development Officer to lead our comprehensive fund development program. In this role, you will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other internal and external stakeholders to identify funding opportunities and design an integrated development plan that supports our initiatives. You will be instrumental in establishing relationships with funders and donors while driving our mission forward.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy and Proposal Development:
Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, Regional Directors, and Center Directors to coordinate efforts in securing grants from foundations.
Research and identify potential donors through various tools, including funding reference guides and annual reports.
Create compelling proposals, inquiries, and case statements that align with our strategic priorities.
Provide leadership throughout the proposal development process, ensuring clarity in understanding and interpreting grant requirements.
Liaison and Relationship Management:
Act as the main point of contact between external funding agencies and our organization.
Develop and maintain relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors, providing timely updates and acknowledgment letters.
Identify new funding opportunities and work with program staff to align their needs with potential funders.
Tracking and Monitoring:
Maintain a comprehensive tracking system for grant deadlines, renewal applications, and reporting requirements.
Analyze the effectiveness of funding requests and provide insights for future proposals.
Coordinate efforts among key staff to ensure timely completion of required documentation.
Community Engagement and Fundraising Activities:
Represent our organization at fundraising and community events, fostering strong connections with donors and the community.
Support the Chief Executive Officer in building and nurturing relationships with major donors, ensuring ongoing engagement and stewardship.
Work closely with the Board Development Committee to involve volunteers in fundraising initiatives and community outreach.
Cultivate a culture of philanthropy within the organization by inspiring and training staff and volunteers.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
Proven experience in securing grants and fundraising from non-profit and philanthropic organizations.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, email marketing, and CRM tools.
Understanding of non-profit funding and compliance regulations.
Ability to write engaging narratives that effectively convey our mission and impact.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Public Administration or related field preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in grant and program development, including management of development departments.
Experience working with diverse populations and understanding the challenges they face.
Additional Information:
A valid driver's license and proof of personal automobile insurance may be required for travel related to the position.
