Biochemistry – Two Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Positions – Joint Appointments in the Department of Biology and Department of Chemistry, University of Waterloo
The Department of Biology and the Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo invite applications from outstanding scholars and researchers for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Biochemistry, with anticipated start dates of July 1, 2025. The successful candidates will be jointly appointed to the Departments of Biology and Chemistry. In exceptional cases, more senior appointments may be considered.
We are seeking outstanding candidates whose research interests will complement existing strengths in the departments ( and (). Candidates with demonstrated expertise in biochemical approaches, such as protein, membrane and/or nucleic acid biochemistry, enzymology, structural biology, proteomics, biophysical or other methods, are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be creative scientists with a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service.
Candidates should have outstanding training and demonstrated excellence in biochemistry or a closely related discipline. A PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or an equivalent discipline, as well as postdoctoral experience are required.
The successful candidate is expected to establish an internationally recognized, independent research group, including supervision and mentoring of graduate students, and be able to work collaboratively with others, locally and world-wide. The successful candidates will join two dynamic, multidisciplinary research-intensive departments. Our faculty are members of interdisciplinary research centres such as the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology, the Water Institute, the Waterloo Climate Institute, and the Centre for Bioengineering & Biotechnology.
The successful candidate must provide evidence of potential to develop and deliver introductory and advanced courses in biochemistry and related areas in the Biology and Chemistry programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The salary range of this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $105,000 to $125,000 per year.
