Job Description

Job Title: Associate Attorney – Family Law

Location: Remote (New Jersey)

Position Type: Full-Time

Firm Overview:
At The Micklin Law Group, LLC, we pride ourselves on delivering effective and compassionate legal services in family law. Our dedicated team has built a strong reputation for advocacy and client support throughout New Jersey. We handle a diverse range of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, alimony, and equitable distribution, among others. We are seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join our team and contribute to our mission of providing exceptional legal representation.

Job Description:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our family law practice. While the ideal candidate will have experience in family law, we welcome applications from recent law school graduates, attorneys completing their judicial clerkships, and those with experience in other practice areas. We are seeking someone committed to growing with our firm. While you will have opportunities to collaborate with other attorneys, including the managing member of the firm, you will also be responsible for managing your own caseload, drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and representing clients in court and mediation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality legal representation to clients in all aspects of their cases.
  • Manage cases independently while collaborating with senior attorneys and support staff.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and more.
  • Conduct discovery, including depositions, interrogatories, and document production.
  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, trials, and mediation sessions.
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with clients, providing updates and legal counsel.
  • Develop case strategies and engage in negotiations to advocate for clients’ best interests.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey (or awaiting bar exam results).
  • Experience in family law is preferred but not required; we welcome applications from recent law school graduates, attorneys who completed clerkships, and those with experience in other practice areas.
  • Effective writing skills and proficiency in legal research tools, including LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to relate to clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases and related deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Dedication to professional growth and a desire to build a long-term career with our firm.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, a retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • While our firm has multiple office locations, this position will primarily be remote, except for in-person court appearances and other necessary obligations.

Application Instructions:
Qualified candidates are invited to submit their resume, cover letter, and one to three writing samples to brad@micklinlawgroup.com . Please include "Associate Attorney Application – [Your Name]" in the subject line of your email.

The Micklin Law Group, LLC, is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and staff.
